Thankful

Along with the Holidays, we find ourselves in the "hustle and bustle" of preparing.  Preparing for each Holiday-cooking, baking, cleaning, sending out cards, preparing lists, shopping, creating a small gathering with social distancing, putting on smiles when you don't feel like it, and our everyday stuff.

Did I miss anything?  Well, with all of this comes stress, anxiety, and emotional and physical exhaustion.

Find a moment for yourself and write out what you're grateful/thankful for.

Taking the time to do this will help you have your "quiet me time", gather your thoughts, and find the blessings we forget to notice or feel grateful for.  When we are thankful, we receive more blessings in life.

Your list may start off like this.

I am thankful for:

  • family (sure at times, family members maybe a pain in the butt, but they are ours (family) in life to love.)
  • friends
  •  the support I received from a complete stranger (these are blessings and at times miracles that don't happen every day.)
  •  my health (It may not be 100%, but if you go in to the hospital and notice the elderly lady on liquid oxygen sitting in a wheel chair, that young gentleman who is fighting with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), or that five year old who is battling brain cancer, it is easy to feel thankful for my health!)
  •  my personality (Love yourself! There is only one YOU.)
  •  support I receive from family and friends, etc. .......

The Reiki Percepts, when said every day, helps to remind a Reiki practitioner  to be Thankful.

We can take one day at a time and give thanks.  No need to investigate the future.  Just being in the present moment, looking around at what we actually have right now and then feeling grateful for it is enough.

Talking about being thankful, I am grateful for indoor plumbing and toilet paper!!!

At my grandparents cabin we had to use cold lake water to bathe in and an Outdoor toilet.  If you had to "go", we would have to walk a city block up a hill, in the cold, black night. (no street lights! Either stars/moon or absolute darkness.)

One time, I went up there during the early morning hours.  I walked in and ready to sit down when I happened to look up.  There staring at me, just 3 feet away at most, was a large-eyed Flying Squirrel.  I had never seen one before.  But upon noticing this, I ran out of that Outdoor toilet quicker than you could say,

" supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"  /ˌso͞opərˌkaləˌfrajəˌlistikˌekspēˌaləˈdōSHəs/

But even having cold, lake water to bathe in or an outdoor toilet to use, we were still blessed.  My family has some funny memories surrounding these!  Fun memories are great to have.

I remember reading the "Anne Frank" story.  It was amazing true story.  I cannot imagine being in her shoes.  But her courage and words were/are inspiring.  She shares to us how to be "thankful" for what we have, during hard times.

I'll leave you with her words to ponder during the Holidays.

"Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness” by Anne Frank.

I have used all procedures I have written about and have found them to be helpful as tools to help myself become a better person.   I am sharing them with you because used as a tool, they are helpful in Shadow working on ourselves.  (Shadow working is healing our inner shadows that are unconscious or subconscious.  Inner shadows are our belief systems, our thoughts, our behaviors, our life experiences.)

I created this blog for my Reiki clients originally.  Combining these tools with Reiki creates a happy, healthy person.  These tools, when used alone are also beneficial!
