Breathe




Are you feeling stressed?  

 

When we are in stress, our nervous systems are in our Sympathetic nervous system.

This increases heart rate, respiration, and places you in your "fight and flight system."

When we are in this system, we tend to breathe through our mouths, we tend to breathe in short upper lung breaths, and we tend to also hold our breath!

 

When we are in a relaxed state, we are in our Parasympathetic nervous systems.  

Relaxed state breathing is through your nose, breathing in deeply through our diaphragms and bellies.  Allow your belly to expand out when breathing correctly.

 

A simple breathing exercise will help you take you from your Sympathetic to your Parasympathetic nervous system.  

 

Try this every time you are in a fearful situation and/or stressful situation.

 

Sit down with straight back, feet on floor, and hands on your legs, at your sides or place one hand over your heart.  (Note, if over your heart, you will start to feel the love inside of your heart.)

 

Every time (situation) you do this, try to place your hands in the same position.

 

Now slowly breathe in through your nose to the count of about 6-7.

Hold this breath for about 3 seconds.  Now slowly let the breath out through your mouth to the count of 4-5.  Do this 3 times in a row.

 


 

How do you feel?  More relaxed?

Awesome!

 

Use this quick technique when you are out and about or at home.

Don't forget about receiving a Reiki session.  Receiving a Reiki session is a deeper way to feel relaxed.
